BEAM ALLIGNMENT

Typically the Vanquish LED headlight conversion won't require any adjustment if the globes have been installed correctly, as the beam pattern is maintained when changing from halogen to LED.

If a headlight alignment is required after installation the easiest way to achieve accuracy is as follows: Park your vehicle on level ground approx. 5 metres away from a flat vertical surface - your garage door may work.

Turn on low beam and mark the height of the beam on both left & right side with some tape. Remove one of the LED globes and refit an original globe. Covering the new LED globe with a towel, see if the height of the original globe differs from the height you marked on the wall.

If adjustment is required, open the bonnet and you should find two adjustment screws at the back or top of the headlight housing (refer owners manual). Adjust the height until the height of the beam lines up with the tape you placed on the wall. Reinstall the second LED globe and repeat.

Our wiring harness is suited to both positive and negative wired vehicles, with or without a Canbus module.

1.It is suggested you disconnect the Earth terminal (-) from the battery before you start installation.

2.Find a position close to your battery to mount the relay, ensuring the positive and negative cables will reach the battery. It is important to mount the relay on a metal surface (it will get very hot as it is converting energy) Don't connect cables to the battery terminals just yet.

3.Run the wires from the relay to your new driving light/s. Be sure to keep them away from moving parts and hot surfaces.

4.IF CONNECTING TO OPERATE DIRECTLY OFF HIGH BEAM: you will need to fit a piggy back adaptor (supplied with wiring harness for H4 & HB3 globes, all other piggy backs can be purchased separately). Remove the factory plug from the back of the headlight and connect one end of the piggy back adaptor. Connect the other end to the factory plug. Now connect the white DT plug on the piggy back to the new wiring harness.

5.If you intend utilising the on/off switch on the wiring harness, run the cable through an existing rubber grommet in the firewall to the desired position in the vehicle cabin.

6.Now you can connect the wiring harness to the battery terminals, Red(+) Black(-) and re connect the Earth terminal to battery.

Canbus modules are often needed for 2 types of vehicles:

1) Vehicles fitted with a solid state circuit protection unit (BCM) that measures the current draw and / or voltage. (vehicles known to require Canbus modules are the 2014-2015 PX MK1 Ford Ranger, and the 2014-2018 Mazda BT-50).

2) Negatively switched vehicles (common with Toyota and Nissan).

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY VEHICLE NEEDS A CANBUS MODULE?

When you use the Vehicle Selector tab to purchase our Vanquish LED headlight conversion kit, Canbus modules will be added to your cart automatically if they are required (for all listed vehicles).

If your vehicle is not listed, it is recommended you Google your vehicle, or check with your local car dealership for further information before installing LED's.

If you have already installed a LED headlight conversion kit and your vehicle is not fitted with a Canbus correction module, your car dash will normally display a globe failure warning. You might also find that your low beam headlight is no longer working. Do not continue until you have installed Canbus, as the fault can only be logged a limited number of times before the vehicle's BCM is destroyed.

The Canbus modules we sell have been tested and proven to work with our Vanquish headlight conversion kits.

  1. Remove the dust cover at the back of the headlight housing.
  2. For vehicles that use a locking spring to hold the globe in place, unclip the locking spring, remove the original globe by twisting anti clockwise slightly, and disconnect the power cable from the globe. Before installing the new LED globe, remove the copper locking plate fitted to the new globe and install it into the headlight housing, using the locking spring to secure it in position. Now insert the new LED globe into the locking plate, twisting it clockwise slightly to lock it in place. With some vehicles there is very limited space and you may need to bend the copper belts before attempting to fit the LED globe.
  3. If there is no locking spring, simply remove the original globe by twisting anti clockwise slightly, unplug the vehicles power cable from the globe and insert the new LED globe, twisting it clockwise to lock it in place. With some vehicles there is very limited space and you may need to bend the copper heat sink belts before attempting to fit the LED globe.
  4. Once installed, look from the front of the headlight and check that the LED's are facing left and right (not up and down).
  5. Important reminder: Use your fingers to separate the copper heat sink belts attached to the globe prior to first use. Failure to do so will significantly shorten the life of the globe.
  6. Fold the copper heat sink belts into the headlight housing.
  7. Connect the LED Driver unit (blue) to the new LED globe, then connect the plug from original headlight wiring to the LED Driver.
  8. Place the LED Driver inside the headlight housing and refit the dust cover.
  9. Now test to make sure everything is working.
  10. Headlight adjustment should not be necessary with the Vanquish headlight conversion kit provided it has been installed correctly, as the beam pattern is maintained when changing from halogen to LED. If a headlight alignment is required after installation please refer to the blog for Adjusting Your Headlights.

If you experience any problems during installation please refer our FAQ & Technical tab for solutions.
